Royal Union Lodge is the oldest Lodge consecrated in the Province of Gloucestershire, originally formed under the Antient or Atholl rite in Cirencester in 1813, it meets, as it has since around 1825, at the Masonic Hall, Portland Street, Cheltenham, on the third Wednesday of each month, excluding June, July and August.
Our work at Cheltenham Masonic Hall includes Masonic ceremonies, the raising of funds for a number of local charities, Masonic charities, and assisting members to progress in their Masonic careers. The care and support of Members and their dependants who are ill are essential functions of the Lodge. But our work doesn’t stop here. Many of our members are involved in voluntary work within their communities supporting local organisations and being good neighbours, all part of being an active Freemason.
We also enjoy social occasions, the foremost of which is the Festive Board which follows our meetings where we enjoy good food and a glass of wine at reasonable cost. From time to time gentlemen who are not Freemasons are invited to join us at the Festive Board. Almost without exception they enjoy the experience and some have applied for membership. River trips, Ladies Festivals, skittle matches, golf and other activities help to keep the Lodge dynamic and fun for its members.
You will find more about our proud history and traditions on this website which we trust you will find informative and interesting. |
Our CharitiesIt is a little known fact that Freemasonry is second only to the National lottery in the amount of its charitable donations.
Royal Union Lodge No: 246 is proud of its charitable contributions all of which comes from the Lodge members and their families.
